Below follow brief descriptions of current Main Street Punta Gorda volunteer opportunities:
Committee Members
Committees are the heart and soul of Main Street, dedicated to four basic elements.
ORGANIZATION, including fund-raising and volunteer coordination
DESIGN, enhancing the visual quality of the program area with an eye on historic preservation
ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING, research and analysis to strengthen existing economic assets while diversifying the economic base
PROMOTION, creating a positive image of the area to rekindle community pride while attracting customers and investors.
APPROXIMATE TIME REQUIRED: 8-12 hours per month
Special Events
We've already been told that Main Street seems to be everywhere! That's because many hands and minds help with the planning and preparation as well as the actual event. You're welcome to volunteer for one or all events.
APPROXIMATE TIME REQUIRED: Varies. Things can get wonderfully hectic as the event approaches!
Administration
We now have a computer for volunteers in our beautiful historic Punta Gorda City hall office. Volunteers lend a hand with research, surveys, correspondence, brochure-folding; i.e., whatever needs to be done at any given moment to keep us moving forward!
APPROXIMATE TIME REQUIRED: A couple/few hours once or twice per week
Web Site Support
You don't have to be a computer geek to help keep Main Street's easy-to-navigate Web site brimming with timely information and announcements. This volunteer opportunity could be conducted from your home at 2:00 AM in your pajamas!
APPROXIMATE TIME REQUIRED: 1-2 hours per week
